A Map of our two week trip Itinerary: Thursday, June 19 - leave Austin for Houston. Julie's grandmother Cross died, and we go down for the Funeral on Friday Friday, June 20 - go to funeral, then leave that evening, just to get on the road. Stop in Port Arthur, TX Saturday, June 21 - drive through the Louisiana swamps (very nice drive) from Port Arthur to New Orleans. Spend the night in New Orleans. Sunday, June 22 - spend the morning in New Orleans, touring the French quarter by Horse Buggy, beignets and coffee at Cafe Du Monde, then drive again - spend the night in Montgomery Alabama Monday, June 23 - driving all day! Through Atlanta, then stop for luch at Tugaloo State park (nice spot!). Then a scenic route for a while (also nice) and stop near Charlotte North Carolina - lots of stock car racing in these parts! Tuesday, June 24 - driving... again...made it to Washington DC by 3 in the afternoon or so. Begin stay at Dave Hardy's place. Friday, June 27 - reluctantly get back in the car and drive to New Jersey, to leave car with old friend David Potter and family, and take the train into The City. Begin 4 night stay in Uncle Scott's apartment Wednesday, July 2 - back on the train, back in the car. Drive to just outside Harrisburg, PA Thursday, July 3 - driving all day, to near Knowville TN. Meet long lost branch of Donie clan. Friday, July 4 - driving again. Reach Texarkana by 5 PM, decide to push on. Reach Dallas at 9, just in time to see awesome fireworks show, and then Austin by 1 AM. Yay! Home Again. |
